So you want to be a wrestler?

Then look no further because POW offers wrestling training for beginners and intermediate students. POW can teach you how to wrestle British and American style. Being a wrestler is very hard and very psychical however if you have the drive and want to pursue your dreams then this maybe the sport for you. Wrestling can teach you self defence, become more confident in yourself and your abilities and you may one day perform in front of a crowd.

So what is needed to become a wrestler?

Wrestling as said before is a very psychical sport, so your fitness level must be at a high standards. You will be lifting and landing and running for however long a match is and without match fitness will only result in injuries. If you are reasonably fit then that is a bonus, but if you are not do not fear as POW has changed many people into fit hard training wrestlers. You will also need to work out keeping your body in shape and looking good. We can offer advice and guidance on how to look good. We also have a full gym facilities at the training camp.

Wrestling is not for the stupid! Learning wrestling is an art, knowing where to and how to apply moves, moving around the ring and knowing your opponents tactics are not as easy as you would think. POW will also teach you the wrestling jargon used throughout the business.

So what can you expect from an average training lesson?

We start at 10am every Sunday unless stated and finish at 1pm. We set the wrestling ring up where you will learn how to construct the ring which is a valuable asset to learn if you want to be in the business. Once the ring is set up you would get changed into your wrestling gear (track suit, t-shirt, trainers) and warm up with a variety of stretches. We do this because we do not want to pull a muscle before we wrestle. Next we will warm up with work out sets that normally consist of press ups, squats and much more. The first time is always hard but after you complete it, you will feel a lot better in yourself for completing it. We will then get in the ring and learn how to fall and use the ropes. The end of the session we let advanced trainees and wrestlers spar off against each other along with studying the arts of wrestling. The ring is packed away by every student and we finish at 1pm.

POW then runs the Cybernet shows from 4pm onwards, you are aloud to watch the show and study the arts of wrestling in front of a recorded show. We also sometimes has guest trainers that will show you many different styles and a great way to meet other professional wrestlers.

Successful trainees and graduates are also given huge opportunities to wrestle for the POW company as well as other companies that POW holds good relationships with. In the past

POW also gets treated to some training by Joel Redman who has trained a lot of POW in the past. Anyone who gets training by this extremely talented wrestler will learn so much and of course have a great time as Joel Redman is an extremely good teacher.

The current head trainer of POW is Dan Walsh who runs training every week from the times above. Dan Walsh has trained with huge names and has a bright future ahead of him, however POW is lucky to have him as the head trainer and trainees and his graduates have expressed there gratitude towards his teachings and knowledge.
